Can't believe it's the last day of February already! Time is flying!

Science 8: Today we did a 'cube activity' on the different types of electromagnetic radiation. This will be part of our portfolios.























Science 9: Today we completed a Static Electricity lab!

February 24th

Happy Friday! The countdown is on for our Marble Trip next week!

Science 9: Students worked on Chapter 7 review questions. They are to be placed in your portfolios. Page 246- # 2,3,5,8,10,11,14 and 17. Exit cards were completed today.

Health 8/9: Unit 2 quiz was completed. We will be starting the Human Sexuality unit next week.

Science 8: Today we learned about light as a wave model. Fluids test was given back and reviewed. Exit card was completed.

February 22nd

Science 9: Today we went over insulators and conductors and also used an electroscope! Chemistry tests were handed back and reviewed. If you have any questions about your test come back and see me. There will be an exit card on Chapter 7 on Friday, February 24th.




Science 8: We continued with the Optics Unit. Today we learned about ROYGBIV and why we can see a rainbow! There will be an exit card on Friday, February 24th.

February 20th

Science 9: Today we continued with the Electricity Unit. We talked about the three laws of electric charge and applications of static electricity. Students who did not pass in questions #1-5 page 231 will need to place it in their portfolio next day.

Health 8/9: Review sheets were handed back and we went over the answers today. This is a great study sheet for the Unit 2 Quiz on Friday, February 24th. The quiz will have 5 Matching and 3 short answer questions.

Science 8: Today we started our new unit on Optics. We talked about some of the scientists who contributed to optics and we learned how to calculate how far away lightning is. We even tried on some old glasses- made of two magnifying glasses!

We had a great time during our Dart Outdoors Photo Scavenger Hunt on Friday. Here are a few photos!

February 17th

Science 8: Today we completed our Fluids test. We will start our unit on Optics on Monday.

Science 9: Today we started the Electricity Unit. Page 231 questions #1-5 are due on Monday, February 20th. Its questions #1-5 in Visualizing Charge Transfer NOT the reading check questions!! They will be placed in our portfolios.

Today is our Dart Outdoors Activities! Students completed a photo scavenger hunt!!

February 14th

Happy Valentine's Day! 



Science 9: Test was completed on the Chemistry Unit. We will be starting our new unit on electricity next class!

Health 8/9: An in-class review sheet was completed and collected at the end of class. We will review next day and the quiz will be on February 24th.
Reminder: Colouring sheets from our anti-stress activities are a participation mark for your portfolio. I am still missing many of your sheets. Latest I can accept them is Monday!! 

Science 8: Today we reviewed for our test which is now Friday, February 17th (Chapters 7,8 and 9).
In-class assignments were handed back and reviewed

Education Week Reminders: 
* Candy Grams were handed out today and we played some Valentine's games!
* Tomorrow is Career Day- come dressed as a future career idea!
* Thursday is Denim and Camo day
* Friday is outdoor activities!! Come dressed for outside!

February 8th

Science 9: Today we reviewed for our test this Friday on Chapters 1,2 and 3. There will be a lunchtime review today as well.

Health 8/9: Last day we talked about stressors and how they affect our body. Today we had a "relaxing" class including a few ways of mediating stress. We did some relaxation exercises, listened to music and did some adult coloring pages. Hopefully these are some things you can do at home as well. Our health quiz on Unit 2: Self- Concept will be on Friday February 24th. 




Science 8: In-class assignment was completed today. Test is Tuesday February 14th.

Good morning everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your snow day! Just a few reminders for the week.. Due to the snow day test and assignment dates have changed!

Science 9:

February 2nd

Happy Groundhog Day!



Science 9: Today we completed a metal lab. Everyone seemed to really enjoy this activity, especially the burning of magnesium!! Lab reports are due on Monday, February 6th. Chemistry test (chapter 1,2, and 3) will be Wednesday, February 8th. Portfolios were handed in today and will be passed back on Monday.

Health 8/9: Personality Islands Project was collected today. We started the section on stressors and ways to mediate stress today. We will be having a quiz on this unit in the next couple of weeks.

Science 8: Today we reviewed for our in-class assignment by having a game of "Towers". In-class assignment will be Monday, February 6th (Chapter 9 only) and the test will be Friday, February 10th. (Chapter 7,8 and 9). 


Reminders: 
* Tomorrow is the last day to buy candy grams($1) and crush ($2).
* Literacy Day will be taking place last period tomorrow. Also a reminder that tomorrow is PJ day!
