Science 9: We went over our Chemistry In-Class assignments then we played Christmas BINGO!

Science 8: We played Science/Christmas Pass the Parcel and Christmas BINGO!

December 14th

Science 9: Today we played Christmas Pass the Parcel and Element BINGO! This was review for our in-class assignment on Friday December 16th. You can use your notes, textbook etc and you will have one hour to complete.

Health 8/9: Today we had a presentation by the Conservation Corps on Climate Change. We can all do a small part to help the environment!!

Science 8: Work class on our flow rate/viscosity lab. The reports are due Friday December 16th!

December 12th

Science 8: Today we completed a viscosity lab! We learned that molasses flows a lot slower than cooking oil and water! Most groups started their table calculations but we will continue with this next class. Lab will be due Friday December 16th.






Science 9: Today we talked about the different periods and families on the periodic table and completed a partner chart activity. Wednesday we will have review for our in-class assignment which will be on Friday, December 16th. Our review will include element BINGO and a Christmas Game! Be sure to review- there will be a prize!!!

December 8th

Science 9: Today we completed our "What stuck with you activity" then we did some examples of atomic number, mass, # of electrons, protons and neutrons. We completed an atom puzzle activity in groups. This was added to our portfolio.  Remember to review your 20 common elements for BINGO next week! Don't forget your in-class assignment is on Friday December 16th. 

Health 8/9: Today we continued watching Inside Out (with popcorn!!!) ! There will be an assignment on the movie after we finish watching.

Science 8: We completed the "what stuck with you activity" then we reviewed viscosity and completed a group question discussion and shared our answers with the class.

December 6th

Science 8: Today we finished Chapter 7. We talked about viscosity and finished the lesson with a group review chart of solids, liquids and gases. We will have a 'What stuck with you activity' on Thursday.

Science 9: Today we continued with Chapter 2 and talked about the properties of metals, non-metals and metalloids. We will have a 'What stuck with you activity' on Thursday and our in-class assignment will be Friday, December 16th.

* I am still waiting on some Health Inside Outside Bag Activities. Please pass them in by Thursday if you haven't already done so.

December 2nd

Science 9: Today we started chapter 2 talking about common elements and the periodic table. Be sure to learn the 20 common elements and their symbols for element BINGO next week!

Health 8/9: We each made a Christmas ornament for our class tree and started watching the movie Inside-Out. We will have a project on the movie after we finish.

Science 8: Door decorating Contest!!! The doors are looking great so far! Great job!

November 30th

Science 8: Today we continued with our chapter on fluids. Students completed a fluid flowing lab. Questions #1 and 2 on page 271 are due on Tuesday, December 6th and will be a part of your Fluid portfolio.

Science 9: Today we completed Chapter 1 review questions. We will be starting chapter 2 on Friday.

November 28th

Science 9: Today we finished our Chapter 1 notes. "Dancing Raisins" lab was given back and students completed a what stuck with you activity. We will be working on Chapter 1 review questions next class. If you did not hand in your safety poster they are due on Wednesday.

Health 8/9: We worked on our Inside-Outside bag activity. These are due Friday, December 2nd.

Science 8: Unit 1 tests were handed back and reviewed. We started our next unit, Ch. 7 on Fluids. 

Congrats to the girls volleyball team on winning Bronze this weekend!!

November 24th

Science 8: Students completed Unit 1 test. We will start our new unit on Fluids on Monday!

Science 9: Today we finished our Atomic Theory Jigsaw activity. Then students started making lab safety posters. These posters are due on Monday and will go in your science portfolio. Students will have a "what stuck with you" on Monday's class about Chapter 1.

November 22nd

Science 9: Today we talked about the Atomic Theory and started a JigSaw activity. We will finish this next day. Students went home with their Space unit portfolio work which is now graded and posted on power school.

Health 8/9: Today we started our self-concept inside-outside bag activity. We will work on them again next day!

Science 8: Today I gave back chapter 3 assignments and went over them in class. They also have their Unit 1 portfolio work back and graded.Then we played a review game "Stinky Feet"!! Test on Unit 1 (Chapters 1,2 and 3) will be Thursday November 24th. There will be a review session the first half of lunch tomorrow!

Happy Friday!

Science 8: Students completed their in-class assignment on chapter 3. These will be handed back next class and we will go over them in preparation for the Unit 1 test (Chapter 1, 2 and 3) on Thursday November 24th.

Science 9: Today we went over lab safety and then completed the "Dancing Raisins' experiment. Lab sheets are due next class, Tuesday November 22nd.

November 16th

Science 9: Today we continued with the first chapter of the chemistry unit. We made a hot chocolate mix and described it qualitatively and quantitatively.

Health 8/9: Today we went over our Unit 1 quiz and then began Unit 2. We will be working on the inside-outside bag activity next class.

Science 8: We worked on Chapter 3 review questions in preparation for our in-class assignment on Friday. Don't forget to bring your book, notes, portfolios etc I will be taking portfolios in on Friday!


Reminder: Unit 1 Test (Chapter 1,2, and 3) for Science 8 will be Thursday, November 24th.

November 14th

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend.

Science 8: Today we finished Chapter 3 and began working on review questions. We will finish those up next class and review for the in-class assignment which is on Friday, November 18th. You can use all your notes, textbook, activities etc and you will have one hour to complete it.


Science 9: Today we went over the Space test, if you have any questions about your test let me know. We then began our Chemistry unit and started talking about lab safety and WHMIS. Chapter 12 questions were due today!!

Science 8: Today we completed our entrance card and continued with Chapter 3. There will be an in-class assignment next week, either November 16th or 18th. This will be an open book assignment and you will have one hour to complete it.

Health 8/9: Unit 1 Quiz was completed. Please bring back your portfolios next class!!

Science 9: Space Test was completed today. We will begin our Chemistry Unit on Monday. I will also be collecting Chapter 12 questions on Monday!

-Tomorrow is our Remembrance Day Assembly. Please Wear Red and Black.

November 7th

Welcome back to another week! I really enjoyed watching some of the girls volleyball games this weekend! Way to go girls!

Science 8: Today we continued with Chapter 3. Students were reminded that this is the last chapter in the unit so a test is only a couple weeks away!

Science 9: Today we reviewed for our test which is on Wednesday. We played a fun game of ZAP!!!! Students were reminded that the test will cover Chapter 10, 11 and 12.

Reminder: Health Quiz on Unit 1 is on Wednesday November 9th! Review your notes and sheets in your portfolios that were handed back today!

November 3rd

Science 9: Today we finished Chapter 12. Review questions we worked on today are due Monday, November 7th.(Questions are posted above) We will review for our test next class. Don't forget the test on Wednesday November 9th is on Chapter 10, 11 and 12.




Health 8/9: Today we reviewed for our quiz (Wednesday November 9th) and had a review game of BINGO!! Be sure to have all your notes brought home for studying. Portfolios containing the case study and review sheet were taken in today and will be handed back on Monday so you will have them to study!!




Science 8: Today we started Chapter 3. This is the last chapter before the unit test. Assignments were handed back and reviewed in class today.


Reminder: There will be a review class for the science test and health quiz, Monday at lunch time in Ms. Goulding's class.

Science 9: Today we continued with Chapter 12. I also gave back in-class assignments and went over the solutions. Test date for Unit 1 is Wednesday November 9th!

Health 8/9: Students were given a work class to finish up their case studies and review sheets. These sheets should be placed in portfolios and will be collected November 3rd (next class)! Unit 1 quiz will be Wednesday November 9th.

Science 8: Today we worked on our Density Lab questions! Labs are due Thursday November 3rd!

Science 8: Today we completed a Density lab. Students completed there observations and we will be working on the questions next class. Labs will be due Thursday November 3rd.


Science 9: Today we started Chapter 12: Space Exploration. This is the last chapter of the unit so there will be a unit test after we complete this chapter.

Science 9: Today we reviewed Chapter 10-11 for our in-class assignment on October 24th. We played a review game of Leap Frog and students were given back their portfolios.

Health 8/9: Today students were finishing up a case study on decision making and we played a review game of Towers! There will be a quiz on Unit 1 on November 3rd.

Science 8: Today we played a game of ZAP and reviewed Chapter 1-2 for our in-class assignment on October 24th. Portfolios were handed back.

Science 8: Today we finished Chapter 2. Students completed review questions. If you did not finish them in class, finish them up over the weekend. We will go over them next class. On Tuesday we will be completing a review session for our in-class assignment on October 24th (It is open book on Chapter 1-2 and you will have one hour to complete it).

Science 9: Today we finished our "Space Exploration" Activity by doing an around the room visit to each poster. Next class we will have a review session in preparation for the in-class assignment on October 24th (It is an open book assignment on Chapter 10-11 and you will have one hour to complete it).

*Portfolios were taken in today to be corrected. They will be handed back next class.
* Health journals will be given back on Tuesday. We are nearing the end of the first unit so in the next couple of weeks we will have a quiz on communication and decision making.

October 12th

Welcome back after an extra long weekend! It's Wednesday already!

Science 9: Due to the school closure yesterday a few dates have changed. Students will now be sharing their "Space Exploration" posters with the class on Friday.Also be sure to have your portfolios ready to pass in. Next week we be doing a review of Chapter 10 and 11 in preparation for your in-class assignment on October 24th. This will be an open book assignment that has to be completed within the hour.

Health 8/9: Today students finished up their decision making journals and started a case study on the decision making process. We will finish up the case studies next day and do a review of communication and decision making in preparation for a quiz on this unit.

Science 8: Today we continued with Chapter 2 discussing waves and tides. We will be finishing Chapter 2 on Friday. I distributed portfolio checklists today since portfolios are due on Friday. Please have them ready to pass in then! Next week we will complete a review of Chapter 1-2 in preparation for your in-class assignment on October 24th. This will be an open book assignment that has to be completed within the hour.

October 7th

Science 8: Today we continued with chapter 2. We discussed ocean currents and waves. We even had fun doing the wave!! Students are reminded to continue to review their notes and keep up with readings in the textbook.


Science 9: Today we worked on our "Space Technology" group project. Chart Posters are due on Wednesday, October 12th. Portfolios are due on Wednesday, be sure to go through the checklist handed out today to ensure you have everything completed. The tentative date for the chapter 10-11 assignment is October 18th.

Health 8/9: Reminder: Decision making journals are due on Wednesday October 12th.

October 5th

Science 9: Today we started our "Space Technology" group project. We will continue with this on Friday! Some students have still not completed the chapter 11 questions. If you have not please pass them in on Friday.

Health 8/9: Today we began learning about the decision making process. Students completed their first journal entry about a time they had to make a decision. These journals will be placed in their journal folder. Journals are due October 12th if you did not finish today.

Science 8: We completed our "Exploring the Ocean Floor" activity today by visiting all the groups chart posters. Next day we will continue with notes on Chapter 2.

October 3rd

Happy Monday! Can't believe we are into October already, time is flying! 

Science 8: Today we worked on our "Exploring the Ocean Floor" group activity. Chart papers for each group are due next day (Wednesday). We will then be visiting each groups chart to learn about all the different technologies! 

Science 9: Today we started to talk about technologies used to explore space! We watched a few videos on the International Space Station and even learned how to make a peanut butter sandwich in space!:) We picked our groups and topics in preparation to start the "Exploring Space Activity" on Wednesday. For those of you who did not pass in chapter 11 questions, be sure to bring them next day!!

Health 8/9: Reminder: Communication Assignment is due on Wednesday!

September 29th

Science 9: Today we worked on review questions from Chapter 11 in preparation for the exit card on Monday October 3rd. Questions are due on Monday, we will correct them at the beginning of class and the exit card will be in the last 10 minutes! It will include 2 questions from chapter 11. Don`t forget to study:)

Health 8&9: The Communication Speech Balloon Assignment is due next class, Wednesday October 5th. Don't forget you need at least 4 speech balloons for each person in your conversation and you need the type of communication listed on the top of your sheet.


Science 8: Today we worked on a group activity about different technologies for exploring the ocean floor. We will continue with this next class. Don't forget to study for your exit card on Monday. There will be two questions from chapter 2.

Science 8: After a tie breaker review game of leap frog, we started notes for Chapter 2. Students were reminded to keep reviewing for the upcoming exit card on Monday October 3rd. This will be a closed book activity.

Science 9: Today we completed notes on Chapter 11. We learned all about the sun and planets. There will be a closed book exit card on Monday October 3rd. Next class we will be completing questions on Chapter 11 for our portfolio and if time permits we will have a review game!!!
