January 31st

Science 8: Today we finished the Fluids Unit. Portfolios were submitted and will be handed back on Thursday. Students will have an in-class assignment on Monday, February 6th on Chapter 9 and a test on Chapter 7,8 and 9 on Friday, February 10th. 

Science 9: Today we finished the notes for the Chemistry Unit. We will be completing a lab next class and portfolios will be collected. Our test on Chapter 1, 2 and 3 will be Wednesday February 8th.

* Health Personality Islands Projects are due Thursday February 2nd.
* February 2nd is "Brown Day" for Groundhog Day.
* Candy Grams and Crush will be sold Feb.1st-3rd. Candy Grams are $1, Crush is $2.
* Literacy Day has been rescheduled for this Friday, February 3rd.

January 27th

I hope everyone enjoys their extra-extra long weekend! Just a few reminders for next week!

* The Health "Personality Islands Project" will now be due next Health Class- Thursday February 2nd.
* Science 8 (pg. 351-353) and Science 9 (pg. 97) questions are now due on Tuesday, January 31st.
* Science 9 exit card will be on Tuesday, January 31st.

Science 8: We worked on questions page 351-353, these are due on Friday and are to be placed in our portfolio.

We had lots of fun having a Dodge Ball game last period today!

January 23rd

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Science 9: Today we went over rules for naming Ionic and Covalent compounds. We completed some practice examples. We will continue with our practice on Wednesday and also complete a matching (name to formula) game. We will be having an exit card on Friday, January 27th!! 

Health 8/9: Students went to the library to work on their "Personality Islands Project". This was the last class to work on it. If you have not yet passed it in it is due on Friday, January 27th!! 

Science 8: Today we discussed Pressure, Area and Force. We completed practice problems on calculating each. We started questions page 351-353. We will have next class to work on these and place them in our portfolios. We will be having an exit card Wednesday, January 25th!!

January 17th

Science 9: Today we continued our discussion and examples of Ionic and Molecular compounds. We will be starting naming these compounds next class. We are now on the last chapter of this unit. A test will be coming up in the next couple of weeks. I will set a date as it gets closer.

Health 8/9: Today we worked on our personality islands project in the computer lab. Students will be given one more class to complete this project. Please refer to the rubric as you create your islands!

Science 8: Today we started chapter 9. We talked about balanced and unbalanced forces and mass vs. weight. We also discussed buoyancy and did an activity to see if a filled water bottle vs. an empty water bottle will sink or float.

January 13th

Good luck to the girl's volleyball team at their tournament in Bishop's Falls this weekend! Looking forward to watching some games tonight!

January 11

Science 9: Today we began Chapter 3. We talked about ionic and covalent compounds. Next day we will be going over the rules of how to name these compounds.

Health 8/9: We finished the emotions journal then started the "Personality Islands" project. Students were given today's class and they will be given next class to work on it as well. Be sure to use the rubric to help you when completing your project! Be creative! :)

Science 8: Today portfolios were handed back and we played a game of "Review TrashBall" in preparation for the in-class assignment on Chapter 7-8 this Friday, January 13th. It is open book and you will have one hour to complete it. A lunch time review session was held if any students had questions.
